Wild Rift Shyvana guide (7.3d): new ratios, jungle build, runes and counters
Role and playstyle
Shyvana is a jungle fighter who clears camps quickly, takes dragons and turns into a dragon with her ultimate, Dragon's Descent. Her passive, Fury of the Dragonborn, collects stacks from large monsters, takedowns and especially elemental dragons, and those stacks upgrade her Dragon Form abilities. She has little to offer in early skirmishes, so her plan is simple: full clears, dragon timers and a strong fight once Dragon's Descent is up.
Patch 7.3d changed her more than any other champion. Twin Bite, Burnout and Flame Breath all have shorter cooldowns, she gains more health and twice the attack speed per level, and Flame Breath (50% AD + 80% AP) and the Dragon Form explosion (100% AD + 100% AP) now scale far better. In return, Burnout's speed boost fell from 25% to 15% and the omnivamp on Dragon's Descent from 20% to 10%. wr-meta's 7.3d statistics, updated November 2, show a 52.8% win rate with a 5.6% pick rate and only a 1.3% ban rate, and wildriftguides placed her in its S tier for the jungle on October 29. Our tier list still shows her at C because it uses WildRiftCore's list from before this patch.
Recommended build and runes
- Items (wildriftfire and wildriftguides, both on 7.3d): Trinity Force, Blade of the Ruined King and Death's Dance as the core, then Force of Nature and Amaranth's Twinguard. Start with Long Sword and take Smite with Flash.
- Boots: wildriftfire lists Berserker's Greaves, wildriftguides prefers Immortal Treads and wr-meta's example build starts with Gluttonous Greaves. Pick attack speed boots when you need to clear faster, and tankier ones against heavy crowd control.
- Runes: Fleet Footwork with Unshakeable, Second Wind and Overgrowth is the setup on two of the three sites. wr-meta suggests Conqueror with Triumph, Coup de Grace and Legend: Bloodline for longer fights.
- Situational: Thornmail or Force of Nature against heavy healing, Randuin's Omen against critical strikes, Frozen Heart against attack-speed teams.
Can you play her with ability power? The new ratios make AP Shyvana more tempting, but none of the three build sources we checked recommend it on 7.3d, so our hero page uses the AD bruiser build above.
Combo and key tips
- Clear camps with Burnout first: its flames damage everything around you, and its speed boost gets you to the next camp.
- Twin Bite makes your next basic attack hit twice. Use it right after Flame Breath so both hits land on the marked target.
- Open with Flame Breath on the target you want to kill. The mark it leaves makes your basic attacks deal bonus damage based on maximum health.
- Use Dragon's Descent to drag enemies toward your team or to cut off an escape, not to start a fight alone, since the healing from it is now smaller.
- Give dragons priority over invades. Every dragon is worth stacks, and a stacked Dragon Form wins the teamfights she is built for.
Counters: who beats Shyvana
- Rammus appears on both counter lists we checked. His high armor and the damage he reflects punish a champion who relies on basic attacks.
- Lillia (wildriftguides) runs circles around her with movement speed and puts her to sleep before she reaches the backline.
- Nunu & Willump (wildriftguides) wins dragon races thanks to his objective damage, which delays her stacks.
- Ekko is listed by wildriftfire. He can dodge her engage with Chronobreak, although 7.3d made his own jungle clear slower.
Who Shyvana is good against
wildriftguides lists Wukong, Nocturne and Kha'Zix as her best matchups. All three want short, decisive fights, and Shyvana's stronger health growth and faster Burnout cooldown let her survive the first burst and win the longer trade. Neither page gives win rate figures for these matchups, so treat them as a guide rather than a rule.
What changed recently
Everything in this guide reflects patch 7.3d (October 28, 2026). Riot's aim was to make her human form stronger and her late game less extreme. Build sources still disagree on boots and keystone; once the new ratios have been tested for a few weeks, we will update the build and her tier on our site.
