Free Fire OB55: Kenta reworked, Morse and Luna nerfed, four new guns added
Garena's OB55 update went live in mid-September, and its weapon changes kicked in on October 1 with the new Clash Squad season. Here is a roundup of the character, weapon and mode changes.
Characters
- Kenta (rework): His old defensive skill is replaced by a tempest that travels forward for 8 seconds, passes through Gloo Walls and deals 25 damage to enemies it hits. Recasting teleports Kenta to the tempest and gives him 20% damage reduction for 5 seconds. Cooldown is 45 seconds.
- Wukong (buff): Transformation cooldown drops from 90 to 75 seconds.
- Morse (nerf): Maximum stealth time drops from 15 to 13 seconds, and aim assist can now pick him up from 12 meters while stealthed (was 4 meters).
- Luna (nerf): Rate-of-fire bonus drops from 8% to 5%. Turning that bonus into movement speed after hitting an enemy still works.
- Super Bonfire now restores 10 EP per second instead of 20, and its firing-interval reduction drops from 15% to 8%. The Jammer blocks detection more reliably.
New guns and weapon balance (October 1)
- New guns: M7 (assault rifle), Skorp (SMG), RPK (light machine gun) and Hawk (sniper rifle). They spawn as ground loot or in Weapon Racks in Battle Royale and cost 1,500-1,700 CS Cash in the Clash Squad store.
- SMGs (MP5, MAC10, MP40, P90, UMP, Vector) move faster while firing but have a shorter effective range.
- The M1887 gains range and reload speed; the M590 loses range but has a higher minimum damage.
- Assault rifles get better accuracy, armor penetration or range. The GROZA moves 50% faster while firing.
- Sniper and marksman rifles slow you down more.
- Machine guns lose some movement and reload speed, but the M249 gains 30% damage, the M60 25% rate of fire, and the Kord's magazine grows from 50 to 60 rounds.
Mode changes
- Battle Royale: Four regular airdrops start around 160 seconds into the match, then two Defense Airdrops and one Ultra Airdrop arrive around 410 seconds, with clearer warnings and map markers.
- Clash Squad: New Flame Grenades leave a burning area that also damages Gloo Walls, and Sonar Grenades reveal enemies within 10 meters for 3 seconds.
Our take
Kenta is now a pressure pick rather than a defensive one: he can hit an enemy behind a Gloo Wall and then teleport next to them, which makes him great for breaking wall fights in Clash Squad. Game Overdrive's OB55 list has him in S tier. If you play Morse, remember his stealth is shorter and easier to spot up close. On the weapon side, the SMG range loss pushes rifles forward for anything beyond close range, so the GROZA or M4A1 are safer choices at mid distance. Our Free Fire combo tool has been updated for this patch.
